My Personal Bio:
I would say I have had the opportunity to wear many hats in my life time. Some fit better than others, some felt great to wear others didn't fit for very long. I have always my entire life been a person that enjoys helping others. When I was very young that entailed working in retail, $1.44 day at Woolco. I think I just gave away my age, oh well. From retail after many years which included Sears as a floater, again dating myself. At Smart Set as a 3rd key, at Maher Shoes, Reitman's the list is endless when it spans a life time. After retail I decided I wanted to become a chef and yes a pastry chef. I went to Lougheed's Business College and took all 3 courses. Now I was in the world of restaurants, again serving and helping people. This career lasted 12 years, I enjoyed most of my cooking career, I always found myself pushing that envelope, I get bored easy. So I would end up being in charge of the kitchen as head prep cook. I even waitress-ed and bar-tended if needed. Always wanting to help everyone out. Becoming a mom I decided I didn't care to work out of town which was Cambridge we lived in Waterloo Ontario. Being a single mom wasn't easy, I did not get child support and back than it was not my priority to chase after money I might never see. I found my calling so I thought I decided to go back to school, I was now 30 and hair dressing school really caught my attention. I had met my friend Paula Snow who still owns The Cutting Room in KW area. She hired me to be a shampoo girl, well I just loved all the clients and the socializing that I got to do I didn't hesitate, Twin City school of hair dressing here I come. I found myself shopping at what was then called Beauticians Supply on Victoria St. in KW. I only worked for Paula for less than one year, because I now found myself working here and was being offered full time after only being employed for 3 months. Scoot ahead 20 years later, you guessed it I stayed with Beauticians, I didn't get bored because in that 20 years I worked 5 years as a full time employee, enjoying doing my hair at home, life wasn't too bad. Then London came calling, they were looking for someone to manage the London store. So with my daughter and my new man in tow we headed off to make a life here. I managed the London location for 5 years and then had an opportunity to work as a District Manager for south west Ontario, 14 stores I was running around to making sure we were all on the right page and working many long hours. Being a DM was rewarding because of my team of managers as well as their team, very proud of what I managed to accomplish in those 20 years. Than a blessing happened, I was no longer employed with BSG, let's just say I won this lottery. I did discover I had another passion and my true path presented itself, yes it sure did. I accompanied my sister Anne Heer to the Toronto Aesthetic show a few weeks after my freedom 55 was given to me. My sister Anne is an esthetician and nail tech for Tee's Nail NV in Hensall, which is owned by her daughter Teresa. Guess we're a family of entrepreneurs, including my daughter Cassandra Willms. My daughter is FIRST in Canada to be certified in Micro Blading of Eyebrows trained. In Spain @puravidacosmetica located in Toronto ON. #puravidacosmetica #microblading #brows. She is on IG under no_pants_friday puravidatattoos. I found Doug Colburn an amazing man passionate engaging teaching a seminar about Reflexology, I was hooked right then and there. One year later I did go back to the show in Toronto and went to his seminar and it felt amazing and emotional that I was able to tell him my story of finding him and how he inspired me and I was now standing in front of him a certified and registered Reflexology with OCR (Ontario Colleges of Reflexology). I have since taken up Aromatherapy massage and Jade Stone massage. I love, love, love my new life my passion and being able to enjoy this phase of my life is a blessing. This is thanks to Catherine Kotsovos. My friends and my family and especially my sweet man my husband Scott who supported me and encouraged me to go for it. My daughter who tells me all the time I'm her hero and best friend. My grandson god love him, he keeps asking if I have a job yet. Silly, when you love what you do, you never have to work a day in your life. So no I don't have a job, I have my bliss. Thank you so much for reading my story and I hope if you ever have one door close, don't be scared there is another one waiting for you, just take that step allow the universe to surprise you because it will, Namaste Elsa Nothing in life ever happens out of order, just be open and willing to be surprised, Member of IPA (International #Pedicure Association) Member of NASP (National Association School Podology Registered and Certified OCR (Ontario College #Reflexology) Certified in #HotJadeStone #Massage and #AromatherapyMassage Retailer for #FootLogix products.
